Dynamic Electrical Load & MCB Calculator

Add custom appliances to calculate total load and determine recommended MCB size automatically.

Appliance Name Quantity Wattage per Appliance (W) Action

Definition of Electrical Load

Electrical Load is the total power consumed by all electrical appliances in a space. Proper load calculation ensures safety, correct breaker sizing, and prevents overloading.

MCB Size Calculation Formula

Current (I) = Load (W) ÷ Voltage (V) [Single Phase]
Current (I) = Load ÷ (Voltage × √3 × Power Factor 0.8) [Three Phase]
Recommended MCB is selected slightly higher than the calculated current using standard ratings: 6A, 10A, 16A, 20A, 25A, 32A, etc.

Example

Total Load 6995W at 230V Single Phase → Current ≈ 30.41 A → Recommended MCB 32A

FAQ

Can I add unlimited appliances?

Yes, this dynamic calculator allows adding any number of appliances with custom wattage.

Does phase type matter?

Yes, three-phase systems divide load and include √3 factor in calculation.

Why calculate MCB size?

To protect wires, prevent overload, and ensure safe electrical design.
